Over the last 6 weeks, the Cirrus team have been busy volunteering and fundraising for non-profit charitable organisations in the UK and abroad. Take a look at what we’ve been up to.
Operation Christmas Child
Every year Operation Christmas Child send out tens of thousands of Christmas shoeboxes filled with gifts to children living in poverty around the world. Since 1990, more than 146 million children in over 150 countries have received these shoeboxes. It is our great pleasure as a team to personally sponsor as many of these as possible, filling them up with toys, hygiene products and school supplies and sending them out into the developing world where they will be received by children who otherwise wouldn’t receive anything. Spreading a little bit more joy at Christmas is something we love to do!
Movember
The Movember Foundation is a charity tackling men’s health on a global scale, year round. They are addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention. They find and fund the most innovative research to have both a global and local impact. They are independent of government funding, so they can challenge the status quo and invest quicker in what works. In 13 years they’ve funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects around the world. The Cirrus men have been growing their moustaches in an attempt to raise money for the Movember organisation.
Fareshare
FareShare is the UK’s largest food redistribution charity, helping to support organisations such as kid’s breakfast clubs, community centres, homeless hostels and refuges. They help over 6,700 charities make delicious and nutritious meals by saving food from going to waste.
Last year alone, Fareshare UK redistributed more than 13,000 tonnes of food to over 6,700 charities and community groups providing 28.6 million meals to people in need.
This festive season, members of the Cirrus team took part in the 10th Food Collection food drive with Tesco, where shoppers were able to donate long-life items to charity.
In an Average 3-hour volunteer shift, you could collect enough for 600 meals!
